License

Commercial status

DataRelay Link is currently available as Free Early Access.
The complete legal terms are in the DataRelay Link Early Access License 1.0. The LICENSE file is controlling; this page is a plain-language product and licensing summary.

Permitted during Early Access

You may use DataRelay Link free of charge for:
  • personal use
  • education and non-commercial research
  • evaluation, testing, lab, and proof-of-concept use
  • your organization’s own internal business operations
  • internal source-code modification for permitted use
  • customer-owned deployments where the customer directly controls and operates DataRelay Link
  • paid installation, integration, migration, maintenance, training, or support around a customer-owned deployment, provided DataRelay Link itself is not resold or operated as a managed service

Requires a separate commercial license

Without a separate written commercial license from DataRelay Labs, you may not:
  • resell or sublicense DataRelay Link
  • commercially redistribute DataRelay Link or a modified version as a standalone product
  • OEM, embed, bundle, or white-label DataRelay Link in another commercial product or appliance
  • rebrand or fork DataRelay Link for commercial productization
  • provide DataRelay Link functionality as SaaS, MSP, hosted, shared, managed, or multi-tenant service
  • use DataRelay Link or substantial portions of its source code to create, improve, or maintain a competing or substitute commercial product
  • remove or obscure copyright, license, attribution, or trademark notices
  • describe DataRelay Link as OSI-approved open-source software

Commercial General Availability

DataRelay Labs intends to move DataRelay Link to commercial General Availability after the Early Access period and product-stability qualification. The planned commercial model is:
  • perpetual software licensing
  • self-hosted and offline-capable operation
  • no subscription required merely to keep a licensed version running
  • optional or separately licensed maintenance and support
  • commercial SKU and entitlement limits defined when General Availability is announced
Future General Availability releases may require a commercial license and may use license terms different from the Early Access License. The Early Access License applies to copies and versions distributed with that license. It does not grant access, upgrade, maintenance, support, or licensing rights to future releases.

Support during Early Access

Early Access is intended for real-world use, validation, testing, feedback, and product stabilization. Unless DataRelay Labs separately agrees in writing:
  • no SLA is provided
  • support is best effort
  • features, interfaces, packaging, compatibility, and documentation may change between Early Access releases
  • operators are responsible for validating suitability for their environment

Why Source Available?

The source code is publicly visible so users can inspect, evaluate, test, and make permitted internal modifications. The license restricts resale, commercial productization, competing products, and SaaS/MSP/hosted use. DataRelay Link is therefore Source Available, not Open Source.
